Kapwa is Medicine - Pagkakahanay: Spatial Medicine for Wellness & Healing Workshop

Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 2:45 PM - 5:30 PM
In-Person at Community Well (78 Ocean Ave, SF)

PAGKAKAHANAY (Alignment): Spatial Medicine for Wellness & Healing Workshop

Join us to learn about Spatial Medicine and the importance of Pagkakahanay (Alignment) in the body & movement and its effect on overall health and well-being. Better alignment of the bones and joints improves the quality and interplay of the connective tissue – fascia – so movement is more fluid, efficient, and diverse. Balance the body, calm the mind. In this workshop we’ll move, explore, discuss, and practice Spatial Medicine, including self-myofascial release techniques and movement education to reveal a deeper connection between our mind, body, and well-being. Wear comfortable clothes. Potluck to follow. Workshop starts promptly at 3pm, Potluck at 5pm.
How Spatial Medicine relates to “Mental Health"?

  • Physical health is in relationship to mental health
  • A more holistic framework for “mental” health that connects the mind and body intentionally
  • How you move affects how you feel and vice versa, so treating the body is a necessity
  • Trauma gets stored and locked into body tissue that makes it difficult to improbable to release mentally alone
  • The postural and movement patterns of the body reveal and mirror the belief/emotional patterns of the person

What are the Results with Spatial Medicine?
  • Increased awareness and presence of self via a better mind-body connection
  • A less distressed physical body
  • A more relaxed nervous system operating more in the parasympathetic rather than “fight or flight” mode
  • Improved ability to handle stressors with a more aligned, resilient structure
